Unhappy any body knowing about this..

Hi guys....I want some help about my AMD X2 processor.since
2005 i had AMD Athlon processor 3200+ socket 754.Now i upgraded my Pc with AMD X2 4400+ (socket AM2) CPU and ASUS M2NPV-VM motherboard.I am satisfied with its outstanding performence.But i have little bit problem i.e when i want to navigate form folders to sub folders or viceversa.It takes more time than my former processor.After a month long hard work i came to a conclusion that in task manager processes have "CPU Affinity" there.As i have 2 core processor it showed me 2 cpu cores.And when i set the affinty of the "explorer" to only one core,whole problem was solved.Now i want to know is there any tweaking software or driver for optimizing the CPu afffiny for dual core.I upgarded drivers etc. but it didn't optimized the cores to their best performence..now i have to manually set the Affinity whenever i have to restart my PC.Is there any way. how can i solve this problem about CPU Affinity.one more thing is that went i set it to one core, all the applications will get executed on the same core thus increasing the load on only one core of processor..Is any body have any Solution to this problem please tell me...

I was having an issue with Firefox scrolling real jerky after my pc was on for a while and I was trying to pinpoint the issue and I came across this fix on a forum named Xtreme Systems, a guy named GAR posted it so props goes to him.

I just did this fix so I can't say whether or not it has fixed my issue but it sounds like a must do fix for AMD Dual Cores. This fixes performance issues with AMD Dual Core CPUs and Windows XP, random slow downs and decreased performance.

I hope this helps someone else.

1 - Install the AMD drivers, download them from HERE .

2 - Read Microsoft's Hotifx information HERE and download the hotfix HERE <--direct download.

3 - Edit your registry to enable the HOTFIX, follow these steps.

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager, point to New, and then click Key.
3. Type Throttle for the new key name.
4. Right-click Throttle, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
5. Type PerfEnablePackageIdle for the value name.
6. Right-click PerfEnablePackageIdle, and then click Modify.
7. In the Edit DWORD Value box, type 1. In the Value data box, make sure that Hexadecimal is selected, and then click OK.
8. Quit Registry Editor.

4 - Make sure your BOOT.ini has this command in it, /usepmtimer to check, right click on My Computer go to properties, click on the ADVANCE tab, then under startup and recovery click on settings, then click on EDIT....make sure your boot.ini looks like this

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer
Also make sure u install AMD Dual Core optimizer.
