Default My motherboard is fried!!

Recently I got a new mobo for my GPU.But soon after making the connections,as soon as I switched the power supply on,the lot of smoke came out of my cabinet with some burning smell.I switched off the supplies immediately.Looking around for what might be damaged,I found only a small part near the 20-pin connector was fried.Rest all parts working fine with old mobo.It isn't a PSU fault either. What went wrong here??

I don't really know the what's-called-what of PC hardware. It was just a small area close to 20-pin plug that was burnt,if that's any help.
