Default LCD trouble

Help! My new samsung lcd monitor has started giving me troubles already.
As u can see in the attached pic, there r some THICK LINES on display. They r kind of hardware trouble. With no option left coz i had to sent an urgent mail, i slapped the monitor at the bak a few times....... n the display is fine at the moment.

What shud be the trouble and what shud i do??

Maybe you have got a lotta dead pixels on your lcd.The monitor should be replaced if it is under warranty.

If it was so easy, you could have done so in the first place!

Thats how an LCD starts its end of the life cycle, my friend laptop developed the same bands 1......then 2.........3 then it was covering half the screen.......................I saw it happening over 1 month time & then it had to be replaced.

So it seems that unlike CRT we can use a LCD for a maximum period of 3 years. (warranty period) I had to get mine replaced twice within less than one year. First time problem with brightness and buttons not working and second time monitor switching itself off!

Mostly yes but thats true even with CRT the life is 3yrs after that it looses or start loosing its brightness, sharpness & RGB channels start over lapping affecting the eyes badly.

Cheaper LCD wont last even 3yrs but for sure LCD have a life & within 3yrs u may upgrade to a better & bigger screen.

Yes.......................didn't you know that??? It will start loosing its brigtness by that time.

Your eyes are more precious, so u may not want to use it more than 3 yrs, our eyes adapt to any conditions & we don't see faults in our monitors until we compare it with a new monitor next to each other. MY 4yr samsung monitor is still running & till this jan07 I was using it quite well but its crap when I compare it with any new CRT monitor..........& when I compare it with my 20inch LCD then I wonder why the hell I was using all these 4 years.

There use to be some expensive Barco CRT monitors costing in those days 2.5 lakh upwards which had a life of 7 years, they were meant to be color accurate & very stable throughout their life cycle.
