Autometic shutdown

My system is autometically shuting down after 40 to 60 seconds.
and sometime it is also restarts autometically
Please help me to sortout the problem
My system configuration is:

915 intel chipset Main Board 256 MB DDR 400 fsb RAM 40 GB SATA HDD 250 Watt SMPS

most probably your SMPS is faulty.. try another one or get it repaired.. well a new normal 400 watt SMPS costs about 350/- so better get a new one or first bring your friend's and test it..

Thanx I tried your solution but still problem not solving
I have also checked all 4 RAM Slots with diffrent RAMs
System is shuting down even if BIOS is open(in the BIOS screen)
This means it is not any OS related problem and any of the Hardware is
faulty.
Please help

okey.. that means , it maybe any other hardware... most probably yur CPU is over heating.. now try to open your cabinet and just tighten the heat sink over your processor, it will be better if you take the heatsink and fan out and re-install it..

and there are plenty of threads running.. so first search the forums before creating a new thread ..

did you search ? see the bottom of this page.. there are 5 threads listed and about 2 i remember which i started..

well coming back to topic.. do you want to know the cost of main board ?

hmmm 915 Mobo .. that means you are using a presscot processor. Check the temp
