Arrow Do you need a Floppy Drive?

Hi all

I am planning to assemble a new PC - will install latest XP. Do I need a floppy drive during installation of XP or other softwares or for any other reason?

I won't be needing for daily use later as I will have DVD writer and pen drive.

Not sure, but I think you may need to copy SATA HDD drivers to XP setup thru floppy drive...

many thanks for your replies.

looks like you may give the floppy drive a pass, but you might have to find something with CD or USB booting options....

i am not a pro... please through some light....BIOS updates are essential or optional (like latest version of XP is optional)?

RAID channel setups are needed when use multiple HDs or for single HD also?

i've recovered 4 mobos from a bad flash wid a floppy drive. no other method worked! so i think its worth it in case of emergencies. come on its jus 250 bucks... something that u spend on one visit to barista or coffee day!!! it never hurts to haf one in ur system.
