Well Share the Host systems Drives with Full read write access 1st...

Now Install the Virtual PC Tools... inside the Virtual PC OS...

Change the VPC Network to LAN Only !!! So that you can asign Separate IP Address for that Guest OS...

Now just follow basic Home Networking as u would have done with 2 cross cable connected PC thats it

After that.. it's somewhat unrealated greek&latin to me... me being poor in networking fine points.

I am supposed to be able to access the folder directly without any probs after the installation of VPC tools... why this networkin adjustments...

Well My frnd, VPC Tools installation does couple of things, like making Mouse and Media Playing smoth, and its allows you drag and drop, means Start the VPC OS, and drag any file from the Backgroup Windows Explorer to VPC Desktop it will copy it self...

but that doesnt allow the avance networking setup u want like Browsing your Host OS File structure from Guest OS...

For that you need to setup one small home PC to PC network...

arrey yaar its easy ! in virutal box...i dunno abt VM WARE coz its paid and i dont care abt it !

just click new and follow instructions allow 512 MB Usage !!
and some 4 GB space in some drive !!

start your virtual machine
mount DVD R/W using the option in Machine option !! put a bootable DVD
it boots thru it !! install !!

it between during installation of linux will say " this might erase your entire hard disk "

dont worry it will erase your Virtual harddisk in the virtual machine !! lolzz !! not your real physical hard disk !!

i hope i helped !

@mukherjee

Thats very simple...

use this option is settings of VMware instalaltion of Windows XP... at Settings go to Network, there use option NAT for Network

Edit : Pic Removed

this will allow VPC OS to directly access Internet as a application under Host OS

1st of all make sure u r connected to the Internet !!!!

now Go to Windows Firewall Settings or any 3rd party Firewall and Add Microsoft Virtual PC in its Exclusion list for all type of activities....

In my case its Windows Vista Firewall !!!

Now in VPC go tyo the Settings of the Guest OS, and then at its Network settings select the networking type as Shared Network (NAT)

Now u should be able to access internet from ur Virtual PC... as it will access the Internet from Host OS as a program !!!
