also he told that there will b probs i f i buy original intel mobo as its service centres r loacted in calcutta

so can i go forward and buy the intel mobo?

There is no probs with sata drives...they are rock solid. And also sata drives are faster and cheaper too nd no compromise in quality. But ur mobo should have sata ports. Sata2 drives are backward compatible with sata1 ports.
U can get a 320GB sata2 drive for some 3.2k or a 160GB for 2k

even if u mobo doesnot natively have SATA interface u may get it by attaching a PCI-based SATA interface card
so even if u upg ur comp in d future u shall have a future-proof [hopefully] HDD
Buy SATA hard disk only.No issue of detection.SATA are more fast and reliable than PATA hard disk.ALL new MOB support SATA hard disk,
Yaa..intel serive is little poor in India.The only service center in India is in chennai.They may took 15-30 days.But Intel MOB hardly need service. I have two system(1 at home and other with me)..but having original Intel MOB..and I never need any Intel service.
