Default USB drive gone kaput :X

I have a 2gb pen drive . I gave it to a person for copying some data. It worked fine on his PC. when i took it back and connected it to my pc it wasn't getting detected. It is not being detected on my college PC's also ... what happened to my USB ?????
Is it repairable ????

try reformatting if you don't have any important data in that.

USB drives are not repairable...
Try reinstalling the drive's drivers if it's provided..

My drive has a rather weird problem.
Everytime i format it 1mb of it seems to vanish...
I've formatted it twice and have lost 2 mb till now...

Is this normal for flash drives?

Two of my friends have kingston drive's...Both having 1 gb....
They've been using it for some time now...

One drive now shows 981 mb of total space
and the other drive shows 965mb of space on format...
Both are genuine kingston..

I think, it is gone. Is it under warranty by any chance. Repairing - don't know whether it can be done but pen drives are cheap now and you can get a new one by spending a lil more than getting it repaired. Buy a branded one if you plan to do so now. They are worth the extra bucks u will shell out.

Use the bundled software to format and gain the extra space. Normal format would destroy it soon.

@Author - Try it on *Nix perhaps? Check it with the lsusb command, if it picks it up there, then there is still hope of recovery.

Exclamation Re: USB drive gone kaput :X

My friend has this Sandisk Drive....The good thing about it is upon plugging it onto the system avast resident scanner starts running...It checks the host system for any malwares....

Is it possible to get such protection on other flash drives...Or is it firmware??
