HDD buffer and speaker costs
hi frnds
i have got two queries
i want to buy the 250gb HDD.
i planned to buy seagate but 16mb buffer model is not available in our place. so will the 8mb buffer model b ok or 16mb buffer has an worthwhile advantage?
i tried for WD but the hdd costs 3300 rs. so wot to do?
also, i was planning to buy the altec lansing atp3 2.1 model. is it worth it?
i m having creative inspire 4.1 for last year or so, but heard gud things bout the atp3.

Re: HDD buffer and speaker costs
d buffer cap dep on wat u will b doing wit d hdd
if casual user, den shud not make any diff
if u wan2 use it in file server or sumthin den performance bump will b noticable
as 4 ATP3, bought it myself sumtime back, no complaints
but r u buyin it as a replacement 4 d 4.1
if so den probably not needed

Re: HDD buffer and speaker costs
thanks for the replies, slugger.
for hdd, my main concern will b hd-muvies. will their playback b affected by the buffer?
and for atp3, i mean i read the reviews.. is it better than creative inspire series?

Re: HDD buffer and speaker costs
firstly comparing 2.1 wit 4.1 is not a dun thin.
cause dey r ment 4 diff things
4.1 4 multi-channel sound o/p [movies and gamin , [basically surround sound eff]
and 2.1 4 muzik [audio-only o/p]
wat fun will uget outta hearin only d drums from d front left speaker only and d guitar from d back right speaker, d magic of muzik is best felt wen u get a cohesive o/p of all d musical instruments along wid d vox
Quote:
From the Digital Audio Fast Track
A good 2.1 speaker will out perform a 5.1 set in the same price range in mp3 tracks and audio CDs iss what you will be listening to.
|
so depending on ur usage u must choose d speakers set
as 4 d HDD qs IMHO as long as u just watch d HD movie, u shall face no bottle-neck, but if u decide 2 transfer files from 1 drive 2 another during d movie wathcin session, u probably will face issues
btw i assume dat u plan 2 buy a SATA hdd on a mobo natively supporting SATA, cause my answer wud b more relevent den

Definitely. But if you want surround sound (DVD movies, games), opt for a 5.1. If for stereo music like mp3, ATP3 is very good and will cost around Rs. 2.5K.

Re: HDD buffer and speaker costs
if muzik's ur dope u must go 4 a 2.1 soln
inspire 4.1 is an entry-level 4.1 soln [3-4k, am i right?]
not xpd d inspire 4.1, but from readin d reviews online, feel dat it is not dat bad a soln, so IMHO it wudnt b a very particularly necessary acquisation

Re: HDD buffer and speaker costs
Firstly atp3 no issues, probably one of the best "within budget" speakers out there. you can buy it with ur eyes closed........i had suggested to couple of frnds and no one complained after buying it.
i say if you want replacement speakers or if r having some probs with ur 4.1 set or u r not satisfied with 4.1 then u can think abt it.

Re: HDD buffer and speaker costs
i have atp3 speaker... but didnt find any kind of difference other than the Bass quality...high bass...but its costly.... i think its better to settle with altec lansing low priced 2.1 speaker who don't like high bass..

Re: HDD buffer and speaker costs
I'd got ATP3 at 2750 about 4-5 months ago and its awesome. At that price, its too good VFM. The bass is terrific!
