Smile Which processor to buy ?

Now that Intels officially introduced new products and lowered the price on some products ( Read HERE) and I've held up purchasing my pc since the begining of this month, I thought it would be better to purchase something new and be future proof rather than buy something cheaper and have it somewhat outdated as per the market scenario.

I was wanting to know what would you all recommend ,

1. C2D E6600 -> 2.4Ghz, FSB1066MHz-> The old one which may have its price re-structured hopefully

2. C2D E6700 -> 2.66 Ghz, FSB1066MHz-> Again the old one with the price restructured hopefully

OR the new Core 2 Duo ,

3. C2D E6750 -> 2.66Ghz FSB1333MHz @ $183

4. C2D E6850 -> 3.0Ghz FSB1333MHz @ $266

OR the Quad Core ,

5. Quad Duo -> 2.4GHz FSB1333MHz @ $266

Now what I wonder is will the prices be similar to the prices announced or is there certain fluctuation here.

Is it good to look at a Quad Core , considering that its at a somewhat similar price as the e6600 arnd Rs 10000/-

Is the Quad worth or should I buy the C2D E6850 ?

Do let me know your opinions.

Thank you.

First of all decide on your budget, then decide on your application and then short list the CPUs that fit the price bracket.Mind you, Quad Core, will need a good board and good PSU

Asus P5B Deluxe is a very decent board for Quads, no need to worry

All will work flawlessly with 1066FSB Quads.Not sure about 1333FSB ones as i am not sure if BIOS update is out yet.

Depends but i guess 6750 should be a better clocker.

i managed 4GHz on my E6600 with XFX.Every setup behaves differently. So nothing can be guranteed.But my guess is you are comfortable till 400 FSB for sure
