thanks...
but it says "speed supported is PC2-3200 MB/sec"....
if it is pc2-3200, the it is 400MHz....

so is it speed of FSB wich matters for the type of ram(400/533)?

There is 400 MHz and 433 MHz varient of DDR-II refer here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR2_SDRAM

also refer to the product link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...reg_R1002_INEN says, 240 pin DDR-II Connecter with 915P chipset, so should support 533 MHz 1GB DDR-II

thanks s18 ....

but FSB does matter.....
if u r havin a 400MHz FSB and if u run a 533 mhz ram module, i think it wont work.... 'front side bus' ....this is used for all kinds of data transfers on ur comp...be it with cpu,memory,hard disk,etc.....

@s18000rpm
@abhi_10_20

There is a cacth here, see if you buy a 800 MHz RAM module, that will be able to oparate uder 533 MHz or 667 MHz...

but the problem is none of the present DDR-II Supports that 400 MHz RAM...

very very few modules of 400 MHz was even pruduced, better option is just by one Higher 533/667 MHz RAM module...

it does work, it wont work on its max. speed, but it'll work, coz i'm running DDR2 800MHZ RAM @ 533MHz with P4 3.06GHz (533MHz FSB, same as urs).

i cant run it above this speed (533), i'll be getting C2D soon, so then only i'll be be able to run the modules at 800MHz & OC them

Hey u missed my post

2days DDR-II supports 533 / 667 / 800, but problem is they are not designed to go bellow it, and if even u force them to go bellow that, and run at 400 MHz stability issue will come up....

no i didnt miss your post

it seems his m/b supports 533MHz speed (read my post #11).

abhi, read the PC manual or d/l "Lavalys EVEREST" & confirm whether your m/b supports 533Mhz (probably it shud).

no no no......
i wanna remove the 400 mhz one completely.....

see, if i get another 400 mhz 1 gb ram , it wd cost me more...
as the vendor said the 400 mhz one is out of date and hasnt gud supply....

hence i thought to get a cheaper 533mhz one and use it only..

There are boards which support both DDR and DDR-II but none of the Intel Original 915 based boards had that option !!!

Some time Manual which comes with Branded PC is not quite good to provide such information rather gives graphical images of how to install Drivers and stuff like that

hey !!!

u should not run a 533 / 667 MHz ram with another 400 MHz RAM.... they are not (533 or present available 667 MHz 240pin DDR-II) designed to go that low...

run only that 667 MHz RAM...

u may end up with a burned ram module

!!!!

No, the 667 MHz is running at Under clocked speed of 400 MHz...

anyway i just suggested you what migh happen, so, its not certain that it will happen, when ur vendor says it will run, then let it be there... run togather.... but if some thing happens, do post back here
