External Hard Drive For Macbook

I have a macbook pro 17''- core 2 duo 2.4 ghz,1gig ram,a 160gb hdd.i need an external hard drive (firewire) with the best access speeds coz i need to install all sample libraries and virtual instruments which require faster drives.

any suggestions?
