Default major problem


The P4 system with a PESV motherboard system in my uncles place is not booting . when the power button is pressed nothing happens and the smps fan does not spin but the motherboard power light burns . i tried changing the smps still the problem occurs . when i tried shorting the black and green ins of the 20 pin power supply the smps fan spins but not when in it is connected to the board . what ccould be the problem ?

sounds like your PSU is faulty can you exhange it with yours or a friends? or maybe the mobo is fried, did you try taking everything out and reseating it?

Does the smps switch off even when you short the green and black wires with the connector attached to the board?
If so,try disconnecting all peripherals(CD,HDD,Gfx card etc) and then seeing if the smps stays on.
Otherwise your motherboard or processor may be damaged.

Mobo I doubt is Kaput...

Proccy's rarely do... These days even if its o'clocked beyond the limits, it throttles...
