Resolution 1024 X 768 & CS

Hi guys!!

I'm here with a wierd question..

My monitor is able to show the desktop perfectly at a Resolution of 1024 X 768.. and also run a few games @ that resl. (FIFA, NFS, etc).

But whenever I try to play CS (COunter STrike) on my comp.. it doesn't work!
The display seems very very weird .. shrunk within the monitor..

My system config:
P4 2.4 GHz
GFX Card : nVidia GeForce FX 5200..


Is there any solution??

"shrink with monitor" as in? Do you mean those black borders showing up above & below(or sideways)? What's your monitor size? Also have your tried increasing the resolution for the game?

What about the refresh rate ??

I think CS works with only 60Hz refresh rate in resoultion 1024 X 768!
Also i think there is no other option to modify this!

i am having same probs.i can play nfsmw,doom3,farcry,splinter cell chaos theory etc etc in full graphics.
bt while playing cs in 800*600,after abt 5-6 rounds machine completely hangs n then all graphics gone.
my monitor resolution in 1440*900.
i can play all other games in such high resolution.

exactly correct.. Black borders are showing up^^ , Monitor size is : 17"

^^ Didn't get what you are asking for.. I haven't tried increasing he resolution more..

My monitor refresh rate is set to 85 Hz..

Will that cause a problem ??

@cooldip - Refresh rate can't be the prob. Coz my monitor's refresh rate is set to 85 Hz and me playing cs without any probs.

actually tht resolution ll affect my skills
i play cs1.6 competetively in different tourneys.
there s no monitor tht ll support tht high resolution.
crosshair size ll matter a lot.

You are correct buddy.. The more the resolution the cross-hair size seems to go small & small

Playing a is not a problem here.. The resolution is the prob buddy.. So any suggestions to run the game at that resolution..

i think the reverse one is true.

increasing resolution=increasing crosshair size.

Try lowering the refresh rate to 75Hz & then play with 1024x768.Also when I said increasing the resolution,I meant the in-game resolution to may be 1280x960 or whichever the game adapts the best.

the fact is tht,when i go to play in tourneys,i get max. 17 inch monitors.
those pcs dont hv hifi hardware too.
thts why,i restrict the resolution to 800*600.
i m playin for abt 3 yrs now.really comfortable with tht resolution using large n dynamic crosshair.
dont wanna change tht

I got it fixed!!
only monitor was required to be fixed.
The OSD options of Monitor was set!!
The game runs superbly well!!

try changing the settings on monitor too.. see if you can get anything that way!

mostly it depends on ur graphic card ......... try tunning settings in that .......
