Default LCD woes

hi guys!!
at present i've a LG L1752S 17" LCD monitor.for a month its been giving probs like the whole disp going white.so my vendor has agreed to give me a replacement.i've noticed a black band both on top and bottom of videos played on this monitor and when i watch tv thru Pinnacle Tv Center Pro.
now my q is if i get a 19" widescreen monitor with DVI input will these black bands appear on all the 4 sides, i.e will the condition aggrevate??
so sud i get a 17" or a 19" widescreen as a replacement?
as of 19" i've shotlisted 2 models : 1> Samsung 931 BW
2> Viewsonic 1921 WS.
any other models u guys wanna suggest?

thnx in advance.

afaik the black bands are not a defect. its just that ur videos are playing at native resolution. ie. its most probably widescreen. so to accomodate the entire length of the video on ur monitor, the height has to be decreased ->> leading to the blackbands.

i have something to say
im having sam 940bw running at 1440x900 and compro videomate gold plus 2

video resolution of tuner is 720 by 576. so when i zoom it to whole screen(ie to fill) at 4:3 i get black bands(ie video is trimmed)left & right.when i zoom it to whole screen at 16:9 i get video trimmed top & bottom.when i zoom it to fit whole screen at 16:10 (native aspect ratio of 940bw) there is no video trimming.ie no black bands at all.

second try yourself set monitor to 800 by 600 then run tuner.i think you will get it now.

one thing i forgot to tell is that my compro DTV3 supports aspect ratios of 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 so all monitors are supported.
