Cost of a canon print head

My print head just went kaput.
I want to know 3 things:
-> what is the cost on a new canon i255 print head?
-> Does it make better sense to buy a new print head or a whole new printer?
-> If yes, which printer?

Buy a new printer rather than print head....I think it is not easily available & after you got it the cost will be same as a new printer or more maybe.

In this segment there are many,heard to suggest any particular one.

please suggest a printer. my requirements are:
1. clear text and diagram printing
2. low cost per page
3. cheap, ie inkjet
4. linux compatible
