well wanna compare this configration to pentieum.

Athlon XP 1700+
ASUS Nforce Chipset Motherboard (onboard sound and graphics)
256 MB DDR RAM
128 MB Geforce 5200 AGP graphics card
80 GB 7200 rpm Seagate Barracuda Hard Disk.

As far as I know the 1700+ in XP series referred to being equivalent to 1.7GHz pentium4, though AMD never accepted this.
Rest everything can work on a pentium except the mobo.

Intel Dual Core is for the Desktop and Turion is for the Laptops.

The equivalent of the Laptop processor for Intel is the Pentium M, Centrino, Centrino2Duo in that order....
