Question What are x16 and x8 RAM (s)

Can anyone tell me what is meant by x4,x8,x16 RAM module.Which ram module will be faster and can RAM having different x value can be put on the same mother board on different slots?

RAM module have different organisations like x4,x8,x16 and x32 etc.please check in the BIOS.
