Default LAN problem


i have two computers and want to connect them usin lan i brought lan cables (they are workin properly n checked) but the problem is in Network connection
local area connection is saying a network cable is unplugged
is this problem or somethin else . help me

i have searched forums but didn't got perfect solution

is it cross cable that u r using? also have u assigned static IP adrresses to the systems?

how can i know its cross cable or not and how can i assign static ip adresses to the systems

ask the vendor for a cross cable. my computer > my network places > view network connections > right click local area connection > properties > select internet protocol > properties > use the following ip add. > put ip adress 192.168.1.1 >click subnet mask > ok. for second system repeat all steps n put IP adress as 192.168.1.2
