Exclamation ATA Hard Drive Problem

I recently bought a new hard drive Seagate Barracuda 160GB ATA (ST3160215A) since my old 40 GB Seagate hard drive had developed bad sectors. When i used the new drive everything works fine except that i cannot install Intel Appliation Accelerator. My motherboard is an intel 845gevb2.When i install Intel Application Accelerator from the motherboard driver cd and after the system restarts the windows loading process never completes. Can u pliz help me out? Will not utilizing Intel Application Accelerator have any adverse effects on the system performance?

yes he is using windows, right (but what version dude)

got, it..

ok... with win xp sp2 you dont need to install IAA..

your drive supports perpendicular recording...

so you just set the settings in the bios.. no need for s/w accelaration...

If your bios detected the & show the full amount of your disk ie 160GB &
If you install winxp with sp2 ie (integrated) you don't need to install
IAA

I don't had such issue when I installed a 160GB HDD. Check in device manager if DMA settings is on for your primary IDE channel. Also if possible
try to install XP onto the 160GB HDD as master.

Default Re: ATA Hard Drive Problem

Install Your 160GB HDD as MASTER & 40GBHDD as SLAVE on the primary IDe
channel ie IDE1. See your mobos manual to find IDE1 or primary IDE channel.
You have to set the jumpers of the HDDs properly for this.Check if your mobos
bios detects them properly. If not then clear your mobos CMOS setting by the mobos
jumper. Consult your motherboard manual for this. Now install XpSp2 integrated
freshly into the 160GB HDD. After installation don't install Intel chipset driver or
IAA from your mobos CD or any other place.

Open "System Properties" by right clicking in the "My Computer"
& select properties. or pressing windows_key+pause/Breake on the keyboard.
Go to hardware>device manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. You should see a pic like this: Seee Image No ie Attachment No::1

select Primary IDE Channel &
double click on it. in the advanced settings box check if DMA mode is on. you should see
the picture something like this: See Image No ie Attachment No:2

if you see pio only then set them to DMA if Available. click ok and reboot.
your problem should be solved.

NOW INSTALL ONLY THE GRAPHICS DRIVER & SOUND DRIVER.
NEVER ISTALL INTEL CHIPSET DRIVER or IAA IF YOU YOUR OS IS WINXPSP2 In Intel 845 Chipset Family
