SATA disk queries

I have four SATA slots on my mobo,... what does SATA I and SATA II mean in those statements,

that if i connect my sata disc to 2nd sata slot on mobo then transfer will be 300 mb/s and
if i sata disc to 1st sata slot then transfer will be at 150 mb/s then what about the 3rd and the 4th sata slot??????????

Nope.. you got it all wrong! SATA1 and SATA2 are different technologies! Either all the ports on your motherboard are SATA1 or all of them are SATA2.. Find that out in your motherboard manual.

thanks dude for replyin so early... i hav one more problem

i hav brought an new 160gb sata hdd... and hav an old 80gb sata hdd with windows xp installed. can i make both as master disk???

this is my motherbroad configuration for sata

sata slot 1 and sata slot 3 are master
and
sata slot 2 and sata slot 4 are slave

so how should i connect to get a fast data transfer and with no problems with connection of both hard disk

There is no such thing as master or slave in SATA technology.. So just connect your XP hard disk to port 1 and the other hard disk to port 2

Master and slave is their in sata also.... this was given in my motherboard manual... see at the bottom of the picture

Ohk.. That's something new for me! Anyway, then you can connect the XP disk to sata1 and the other disk to sata3.

hey dude....I have a ques...... i previously had an hard disk of 80gb running on my computer but 1 day as my bro switched off n restarted the computer as it got hanged for the first time when he was playing a game and when he restarted the computer there was nothing coming up on the screen n when we got it checked then the vendor said the hard disk was gone n now there a new hard disk but i want to know can i still recover data from that old hard disk n how .....n by the way what actually did happen to it............
