Default Blue screen appears with different errors and boot option removal

HI,

I am facing BSOD for the last few days. Please find below my PC config

WinXP Pro(SP2)
1 GB Ram
160 GB SATA HDD
AMD Athlon 64 3200+(939 socket)
Asrock Mobo
Norton AV (defn updated till apr 20 2007)

I have 2 issues to discuss

1.My friend tried to install Vista(Release candidate) in My pc(6 months back) but it didnt worked. In the boot screen I got two options "Earlier version of windows" and vista.I dont know how to remove them so i always choose the first option to boot into xp and there was no problem till last week.Suddenly Blue screen started to appear (which i will tell in Issue 2) for the past 2 days. Now if i select "safe mode" or "last known config" in the boot menu it is going to vista and not into XP..

2.In the past 2 days pc showed peculiar behavior and started to restart(In the event viewer i found this error - Device detected a controller error on scsi).
I found that the SATA power connector was bit loose and replaced with new one.

Then i started to get different errors in each reboot with BSOD
i) KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR
ii)KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
I searched in net and found that if we run chkdsk it will disappear and it did disappeared.
Then the third BSOD comes now when I try to login to my SYstem with my user name and pwd. As soon as i give them it gives this error

"Check to be sure you have adequate disk space" 0X0000008E.

I couldnt use safe mode to check any errors because of the issue 1.

Please anyone suggest any soln.
