Question INTELS core 2 duo N dual cor ???


I know this is a dummie question but whats the diff between intels core2duo and
dual core i know that core2duo is moore powerfull costly,reliable blah blah blah
but whats the major HARDWARE diff

dual core = 2(dual)core=2cores
core2duo=2core=2cores

help me iam stuck

core 2 can be quad core or dual core as of now and dual core cpus from intel like pentium d only have 2 cores.Also a single core of core 2 can process 4 threads at a time while a single pentium d core can process only 2 at a time(Hyper threaded).
So core 2 can process a total of 16 threads for Quad core and 8 threads for dual core while pentium d can process only 4 as its dual core.

Ok u seem confused about the number of cores in both.
So dual core cpus list
AMD ATHLON X2
Pentium d
core 2 duo
These have 2 cores.

There was big issue in Digit or Chip few months back explaining the whole thing.
But just to let you know, the Pentium D are not *real* dual cores while Core 2 Duo. There are tons of topic on net explaining this. You can use Google
