Default Nvram????

My PIII 256mb ram comp' didn't boot up....
In the boot process, there was a pause saying
checking NVRAM...........
I Could only press the del key to enter setup. there i saw an option saying
Free NVRAM....disabled...
I just enabled it and comp' is ok now...
Is it safe to do so???? What's that NVRAM ????

It just checks whether your ram is working fine. You can even hit esc to stop it.

And btw, nvram is Non Volatile RAM. It is safe.
