The PC stopped working inbetween. The monitor got switched off. The red led was glowing for some time. The PC as restarted, but the monitor did'n't turn on. The beep sound on starting of the pc didn't come. Is it RAM problem? The RAM was cleaned and put back. No use. please help

Is the led on monitor glowing? If not , check monitor power cable.
If the led is glowing on monitor and CPU's light is also on after switching on, then try to reconnect the video cable after stretching it a little(not too much).

the monitor is ok. wheni disconnect the pc cable it is switching on . The ram was changed. but no effect. The beep sound on starting the PC is not coming. No other beeps (indicating RAM failure)e coming. The maintenance person is suggesting that the mother board may be faulty. Mine is gigabyte 7vm400-RZ. Please advice

nah. these technicians say something that will grab you money. My technician says now P3 cant be used for anything. I am using linux on P3 and it works as an express. Mobo may not be faulty. First thing-- Buy a multimeter/continuity checker or borrow one from someone. Then remove the monitor's supply(PWR) from the back of the SMPS. Then remove the SMPS input plug from the main socket(not behind the SMPS) and keep the two ends of the continuity checker on the two small pins i.e. phase & neutral on the plug, not the mains; see if the light glows if a continuity checker or the meter moves(in continuity mode) to the right. If the light does not glow or the meter doesn't move then probably; the SMPS is dead. Try replacing the SMPS. Try and Report.

U did not understand wht i said. I said check the SMPS input. The principle based on physics is

But he must disconnect the SMPS from the MOBO, CDROM and HDD b4 doing that.

first of all make sure to find out all the voltages from the smps are correct,, also check the ram slots,, and processor fitments perfectly,, then later try checking the video adapter,, if all these are right good,, then u have to check the processor and also the mother board,,

since one of my AMD system caused the same problem, and finally the response was problem in processor.

lets find out all these checks.

check the capacitors around the Processor, if its havin rusty top, & swollen, then you know you got a motherboard problem.

replacing them will solve it.
