Default CD Drive is dead

My CD Drive now fails to eject or load. Only way I can eject is hard way by using a pointed object inserted into the small hole on front panel.
Now after this problem I have not attempted to load any CDs in it..

Before I throw it off (its more than 4 years old) just wanted to know if something could be done to it. I am planning to open it and see if something can be done

If anybody has ever faced and rectified such a problem, do help.
thanks,

Someone in a similar thread also suggested to lubricate the tray grooves on either side. Search it up in the forum

i bet your cd drive is samsung...its known for its faulty trays...
lol, even i have the same problem with my samsng cd-rw...

well i don't know any method which can help you but i can sure help you by telling you a technique with which you can easily eject the drive with a pointed object...

well, you should first press the eject button and then press with the pointed object...this requires a lot less force to eject the drive
