Re: Gaming rig for Rs 80,000
Instead of buying a gaming rig for 80k, buy a decent PC and Xbox 360

@ambandla
with an 8800GTX and a high end system u can experience the power of true DX10 games like Crysis nd UT3. With a console one can never enjoy FPS games as in a PC.
And if we go for XBOX 360 then well need a min 26 or 32" LCD or HD TVs to utilize to fullest.
But with an 8800GTX and a 19" TFT, we can play latest games at HD resolutions.

Yeah thats true.
Without HDTV Xbox360 is more or less like PS2.
And consoles always sucked in FPS.

Re: Gaming rig for Rs 80,000
The reason why I am not gonna purchase XBOX 360 or PS3 is that...the cost of the games are above 2000 bucks in India...and I am not gonna pay that much amount. Also if I buy XBOX 360 how can I enjoy games that are only meant for PS3 and vice versa...(remember there is no HALO in PS2 ??, but ofcourse it was in PC version!!)
Also it is true that to enjoy XBOX 360 I need HDTV!!
So....I guess PC is the best option as of now....

Re: Gaming rig for Rs 80,000
The overall configuration is variable but as far as graphics card is related u should buy a DX 10 based.8800 GTX is really costly and u wont be able to fit it in this budget if u want a descent config.U can opt for 8800 GTS (640 or 320 MB) but if u wanna feel that hardcore adrenaline rush, then 8800GTX is non comparable. The ATi R600 is on the way & as rumors says it will smoke 8800 GTX but currently 8800GTX is boss of all cards!!!
And if u compare 8800 GTX to the console, its even perform double as compared to PS3 or X360.PS3 performs good because of its cell processor. But the 8800 GTX can tear it apart in graphics performance.

Re: Gaming rig for Rs 80,000
i believe that waiting for ATI's response to DX10 cards will be a good idea ....

Re: Gaming rig for Rs 80,000
If u have used INTEL original motherboard & u think they are good then this motherboard is way better than intel's original. There is no problem with this motherboard, infact this is motherboard of the future but if u use it in SLI mode it will run in X16 mode i.e X8+X8,on the other side the single Card will also run in X16 mode. But still its better than INTEL's original motherboards.
U can check it http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?m...3&l2=11&l3=473
There is not much performance difference between both modes, but i suggest use a single card like 8800 GTX or GTS.

Re: Gaming rig for Rs 80,000
ya..i got the same review from almost all of the tech websiltes..but one of the main concern is right now..how much power do I need. Is 550 V SMPS enough for it?? Also I find that one of the downside with this MOBO is: it is getting very hot..So how can I prevent this?? Because most of the time I used my PC for 6-7 hours continiously on weekdays and in weekends it goes upto 12 hours..
