Cd Rom problem

hey ther,i am really confused as my BenQ Combo CD/DVD drive has stopped working suddenly......it doesnt read any cds..though the cd tray opens and closes perfectly.....i dunno what happened to it ....i have uninstalled the drivers of the cdrom and restarted my computer so that the windows might install the drivers again automatically....but it doesent happen...,,But the drive is recognised under "device manager" tab,and it says that i has no problem in the drive.........
I dont have a restore point created in windows too........
is there any way i can get some help about this thing or is there any software download???
Did i miss any file in windows which made this happen ....coz i am not the only one who uses this computer....my family members too use it....
Please need help immediately.......

And another Question:I am really confused of which PCI graphic card shud i take...shud i take 6600,7200 or 7600 vdo cards....Please help me and also suggest me the RAM in the graphic card too......will 128 and 256 RAM produce same results??Please help

regds ur CD problem man...i had similar prob in my DVD drive..do these steps

1. go to a music CD shop and ask for CD/DVD cleaner disc..philips will cost 150 Rs and writex 100 Rs.. take any one of them

2. play it in ur CD drive

whooops !! ur CDROM works

and regd video card suggestion ask in thread "which graphic card to buy"
