Which one is better 3.4HT or 2.8dual core

My friend is buying a computer
his budget for Intel P4 Processor & Board is 8k
so i wanted to know which one is better
Intel 3.4HT Processor or Intel 2.8 Dual Core Processor
+ Any Intel Board

Pls help..........?

Pentium D 2.8ghz will be better.better still get the Athlon 64 X2 3600+/3800+.its a far better proccy than Pentium D.

Cost-wise 3.4 HT, Performance-wise DC 2.8
Dual Cores r said to b faster & better performing to about 20-30% than similar HT processers.
Want both... as assassin said... Athlon 64 X2 which lies between these 2

hi, he has only 8k for CPU+mobo, so qn of C2Ds.

For 8k, the best u can get is AMD Athlon X2 3600+ and M2N-MX mobo.
Its better than 2.8 Pentium D or 3.4HT. X2 runs much cooler than PD adn M2N-MX has far better graphics[IGP] than intel's GMA900 or X3000.

X2 3600+ & Asus M2N-MX will cost bout 9.2-9.5k all incl.so he'll hav to increase his budget by bout 1.5k.

Nup, 3600+ is for 4.5k and M2N-MX is for 4k,
so ull get the combo for 8.5k.
Just 500 bucks more, but worth it.

What about Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 [128 mb shared] ? How good is this integrated graphics onboard NVIDIA C51M chipset for AMD laptops when compared to Intel GMA 950.

I think it is adviseable to go for AMD based laptopts rather than intel, because atleast we get better integrated graphics from Nvidia or ATI and these lappy are cheaper too when compared to intel based.

6150 is twice as good as GMA 950. Though its[6150 is DX 9.0c] not as future proof as the X3000 of intel[DX10], it handles games more efficiently.
6150 or 6100 is a modified core of 6200 with reduced clocks.
6150 runs 50 Mhz faster than 6100 and has built in HD decoder which 6100 lacks.
But a mobo with 6150 is 1k or more expensive than a 6100 board with all features same.
But benchmarks has prooven that in real world 6150 is merely 5%faster than 6100. So there is no point spending that 1k more for just 5% boost. Also u can have better deal with M2n-MX with 6100 in most shops as its very common board and most shops have them stock.
X3000 is said to be DX10 compliant, but they have some mere features to run vista. They are not optimised for games.

M2N-MX is indeed a solid low cost board. It provides onboard graphics so you can just start over easily, not much expension....but then again most people won't even need this.

I am not going it for a stand alone card or something like that. It is integrated onboard compaq laptops.

So basically i wanted to know that AMD based lappy would be better than Intel, considering only the integrated graphics part
