Exclamation High temp


My Hard disk(Samsung 40GB) ATA temp shows it is 89 C !! is it to high?
How can i reduce it
what's the cost of a hard disk cooler and which barnd is good and best
well i used HD tune as given in the Fast track freeware book as given this month..
initialy the temp was 18C but later it increased

this is too high , sata disks should be kept at 40 c.

get a hard disk cooler.

or maybe smthings wrong with your software monitoring it, cause it cannot run at that temps.

well the threshold temps for most hdd's are 48-50 C. after this temp the disk gets damaged resulting in bad sectors.

either ur disk is messed up, or the hdtune.

post ur hdd temps using HDDLife.cud be that ur hdd temp sensor is busted.

Maybe its in Fahrenheit you read that. Its just insane, or your sensor has gone bonkers.

At this temperature the HDD should be very hot to touch - have you checked by touching it ? This should be the best confirmation that the HDD is really at this high temperature.
