hi frnds!
i've a Athlon X2 3800+ and Asus M2N-MX mobo.for complete config plz see signature.my proccy stays oced @ 2.5ghz.its been running like this from the time i bought it (bout 5 months back).the hichest i managed was 2.8ghz.i use my computer 24x7.
today morning i was watching tv on my pc,surfing,and video coversion was going on in background when suddenly the pc turned off.after that it didnt boot 4 a while.when it did it was showing that bios was corrupted.so i recovered the bios.after that boot was succesful.
prob is now my proccy wont OC beyond 2.25ghz .
getting BSOD at 2.3ghz during booting in OS.
technical data of BSOD:

beyond 2.35ghz cpu powers on but there is no display and no POST beeps.
so what do u ppl think,wats busted inside my rig?

Mostly the IMC has conked off.Happened same with my Opty. Although mine was not cos of OCing but cos of a nasty BIOS on DFI board

Since you used the CPU at OC'ed speeds,that could be the reason.

What vcore were you using btw,what were the idle and load temps ?

Also i am sure you are aware that the board has passive chipset cooling which IS insufficient for OC and should be actively cooled,did that ?

Also what were the settings you used @ 2.5 GHz ?please list them if possible.

What RAM did u use ??? I remember something similar with my AthlonXP 2400+ ... ran it at 2.2 GHz for over a few months , and then suddenly bsod's ... i later found that i had permanently damaged one of the modules coz i was using a much overloaded timing,FSB for that module to handle ...

1>vcore is 1.350v which is the bare minimum.

2>temps : @2.5ghz idle: 40-48 load : 50-65
@2.4ghz idle: 38-42 load : 45-55

3>mobo chipset temps reach max of 46

3>settings:
cpu multiplier 10x/10x
fsb 240-250mhz
htt clock 400mhz
ram 667mhz 4-4-4-12

Ram is a ddr2 1gig sticj from ZION (hynix chipset)

now running proccy @ 2.25ghz.
is it repairable damage?wat sud i do?

Those temps are not healthy at all. I dont think the Ram is f**ked.I am doubting the IMC here.Maybe i am wrong.Or maybe its the Chipset gone bad.
46C for the chipset is laughable.Asus places the probes at idiotic locations which shows much lower temps.actually the chipset runs sooo hot ,you can barely touch the heatink.Try cooling the chipset.Also try bumping the VDIMM.

What VDIMM are you using ?
Updated the BIOS ? tried 2T CR ?

using the latest release of bios version 0406.
vdimm = 1.850
Command rate is 2t by default,pc doesnt even post if CR set to 1T.

^^ Try using RAM at 533 and see if 1T works.Please report IMMEDIATELY,maybe we have the answer

tried wat u suggested but result same as before.pc wont post with CR set 1t.had this prob from very beginning.
one more thing,i think after this whole episode started the proccy temps hav increased.at present proccy running @ 2.25ghz,i'm capturing video in divx format and surfing,proccy temp is 58-60 and mobo is 46.

Looks like your IMC is damaged for sure.Try Orthos at everything kept to stock.

^^^ so wat sud i do?sell my mobo + proccy and get a new one?will it create a big prob later on?is dere any chance of claiming warranty?
I've deduced that either mobo mosfet is busted or gate migration has taken place in processor

@darklord since AMDs hav the IMC in the proccy itself,if the IMC wud be busted then the pc wont boot at all cuz proccy wont be able to control the ram.

Hmmm....
CPU can be given for RMA but replacement will take 1 month min.As for board....
IF at all its possible,try using another Chip in it to rule out whether the board is also busted or not.
Regarding the IMC thing,what you say is right BUT not necessary that busted means it should stop working.It can get damaged and act really weird,throw BSODs, dumps,crashes etc.Similar thing happened with me,i thought it was the board cos at that time DFI used ULI SB with ATI RD580 and that was a nasty board.But then when another CPU was tried,all problems vanished.When i sent the CPU for replacement,i got a brand new Chip.

latest developments r:
updated my mobo bios from v0406 to v0411.doing so solved all probs.now my proccy is OCing as it used to do before.but the only prob is that its generating insane amt of heat @ stock speed.its idling @ 50 and 65 at full load.when oced to 2.4ghz its idling @ 53-55 and at full load its 65-70.
now i cant understand wats the new prob.
i've spoken to my vendor.he said he wud give bout 9-9.5k for my mobo+proccy.sud i sell it?????
as far as tring out the mobo with another proccy is concerned,its impossible as none of my frnds hav a AM2 proccy.
