Default laptop to TV

I recently got myself a compaq presario c500 laptop. it has s video out. a frnd said that i can hook up my lappy to tv for the display. i bought the cable. it has s video connector on one end which goes into my laptop and the other end has 2 rca connectors. my tv has normal rca av in and not s video in.so when i connected the rca to tv and s to lappy, there's no disp.none of the rca connectors give display.i even connected both rca to one vid port using coupler but still no luck.http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/atta...0&d=1168868458 This is a pic of the cord.

later i bought a svideo to single rca. the display was finally there on the tv but in monochrome.

PLEASE HELP.

you have to go to display settings and select correct country and video output format. it depends on video card you have... this will fix the problem.

The S-Video standard states that the connector should have 4 pins. But most of the laptops deviate from the standard and use 5/6/7 pins. Still the 4-pin cable should work with them
