Question How will it work?

Anybody know how to use the earphone jack provided on the CD-DVD drive?

I have tried out various methods, but didn't work.

I had tried with an audio CD some time back. It didn't work. And yes, there is a black 3 pin cable connected from the drive to the mobo. But still no sound is coming

This is not necessary. this output is provided only for such occasions when the mobo/OS cannot get digital or analogue data from the cdrom. All modern PCs are capable of directly using the digital data so newer drives dont even have the audio jack.

It will work even if the cdrom is not connected to the pc at all. (power suppliy should ofcourse be there). A cdrom has all the necessary components to decode and synthesize the audio data inbuilt.(audio cd only)

test is as follows-
1. switch of pc
2. disconnect all cables except the power connector from the CD-ROM
3. power on the pc
4. put in a audio cd
5. plugin earphones/speakers to the front jack
6. press play
7. navigate using the buttons on the front of the cd-drive
