This is the best config I can think for under 25K for a kid, because if you add DVDRW for 2000, cabbie for 1500 and UPS 2000 along CRT 5000 maybe, you still gonna overshoot your budget,,,,

Re: new pc for 25k
AMD Athlon X2 3600+ : 5.5k
Asus M2n-MX : 4k
2*256 DDR 400: 2.5k
17" CRT ViewSonic: 5k
cabby with 400w: 1.3k
MS keyboard + mouse: 0.8k
nvidia 7300GT : 5k
Altec Lansing ATP3 2.1 speakers : 2.5k
---------------------------------------------
total>>>>>>>>>>>26.6k
Hi yaar...a minimum gaming PC will be close to 30k. Its a lot better if u opt for 2*512 DDR instead of 2*256. It will be 2.5k more expensive.

Re: new pc for 25k
Asus M2n-MX @4k has the best onboard GFX available. It has nvidia 6100 which could play all todays games at low settings.
I I wud say- get a lowest card like 6200 for 2.4k. Its 2X better than onboard.

Re: new pc for 25k
ya da ASUS M2NPV-MX has 6150 GFX. But the mobo is 5k
and M2N-MX has 6100 @ 4k
There is not much perfomance diff [only some 5%] b/w these mobos.
Both these mobos are AM2 socket for AMD.

Seems misleading. You forgot the storage, add 3-5K for the storage (Optical drive & HDD)

Re: new pc for 25k
Proccy - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ [socket AM2] = 3300
Mobo - Asus M2N MX / Asus M2N PV MX = 3850 /4250
**^^ M2N MX - 6100 NB chipset, while M2n PV MX has 6150 NB chipset.6150 is best onboard graphics soln.
RAM - Transcend 512 Mb @533 MHz = 2100 [*price may hav fallen- plz chk]
HDD - Hitachi deskstar 7K80 - 80 GB = 2000
ODD - Lite-on or Sony DVD writer = 1900/2000 . Combo drive Sony=1200
LCD/TFTmonitor -15" Samsung=8500. 17" BenQ/Viewsonic/samsung=10-10.5k
cabinet - Zebronica Adonis = 1000. [400watt psu , front audio n 2 usb]
KB + mouse - Microsoft - 800 . [better than Logitech ]
So ,if we go with :
1 Combo drive n 15" LCD monitor = Total is ~ 22700. If size doesnt matter that much.
2 DVD writer + 17" LCD mntr = Total is ~ 25550 .
3 MY SUGGESSTION -
Compromise a bit on monitor , go for 17" Flat CRT -Samsung = Rs 6100.
DVD writer Sony = 2000.
Proccy - X2 3600 = Rs. 4900
Mobo - Asus M2N Pv MX 4250
Rest as above .
THIS WILL BE AROUND rs. 23150.
Make different P n C s n decide as per her preferences .

Re: new pc for 25k
^^ If u go for good brands 15" LCD will come at around 8.4k . U can also opt for Intex /Proview/AOC etc . 15" monitor .These should be around 7.5k.
If u want 17" then U have no option but to go for Intex/AOC [in 9.5k range] OR STRETCH THE BUDGET A BIT.
Proccy - as i suggestd earlier - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ = rs 3300.
decent performance for surfing /office applications/movies/music.
Ordinary CRT vs Flat CRT
Flat Crt offers better view , is easier on the eye [less harmful 2 eyes due to being flat] .
Non flat CRT cause more damage 2 eye , but are cheaper .
Asus M2N PV MX vs Asus M2N PV VM
M2N PV MX - price 4250 - NO TV OUT
M2N PV VM - price 4750 - HAS A TV OUT PORT WITH COMPONENT/S VIDEO/ COMPOSITE (OUT) ports.
So the prices n specs differ . Go for PV VM if u want 2 hook the TV 2 PC n watch movies on TV . But if PC n TV r not placed nearby , dont bother spending extra 66 bucks .
ALSO , check the prices of MSI K9N GM2 .
It is a board supporting similar n better[sound 7.1] features . Maybe it is a bit cheaper.
