Will DDR 400 work with 845G Mothorboard

My friend has Intel 845G Mothorboard with 128 MB Pc 2100 Ram installed.He want to upgrade his RAM. But older ddr ram is not available. So will DDR 400 MHZ work with it ?

it will work but will perform at 128 MB Pc 2100 speed....

Intel 845G supports only DDR 333, so though DDR400 would work but as DDR 333

no dude..it will perform at slowest module on motherboard that is 266Mhz ie 128 MB Pc 2100 Ram speed

845 next slowest module to 400 is 333 and so it should work in DDR333 mode i.e.
PC-2700 which operates at 166 MHz actual frequency.

read properly..the guy has '128 MB Pc 2100 Ram installed'......so it will run at that speed only and not 333MHz or 400 Mhz.....

its PC2100..soit will be 266 MHz X 64 bit= 2128 MB/sec..so 2100

Yes I read it properly.......He is not gonna club it with the 2100, and thats what I presumed, but if he IS then you are justified n correct.

Yes u r right, just throw the old one. So what you people say 400 MHZ will definately work with the mobo ( do t care about @ what speed it will work)

But if ur r not gona use it....then it will work at 333Mhz and not 400 Mhz
