I use a LG and several of my friends use either Samsung, Sony or Lite-on. I personally don't see any significant differece in performance in any of them. However, IF you are into the nitty grittes of the minutest seconds of read/write speeds etc than I'll recommend Lite-on.

The Liteon Super Allright LH-20A1P is a gr8 product. It has 20X DVD+/-R speeds.
Digit has given it the BEST BUY GOLD AWARD in Feb 2007 mag.
One of my friend bought it yesterday nd its up for 2050/- in Kerala.
U will get 2 extra front bezels extra(a black, a white nd a silver), nd maybe u will get the assured DVD DL nd 2x DVD-R of 20x.

^^Don't know much about NEC...coz I never used one and neither do I know of anyone who uses one...so no opinion...it may be great but I don't think it's very popular with the masses in India.

I hear several people saying that they want the best of this or best of this...but I see most them "want" the best without stating what exactly they are looking for eg. speed, reliability or quality etc etc I mean these days every hardware or software comes with it's own strengths or weeknesses.

I remember a nice article by agent001 in Digit a few months ago about a suggestion he had given to one of this friends about an iPOD based on her PC config but she got upset coz she just wanted the best out there to show off to her friends or something to that effect...those of you who read might remember that article.
