Default hdd problem?

hi friends.
whenever i start my pc. "intel desktop board" was shown in the monitor
when i check in bios, no hard disk is detected. my primay ide controller is cd-rom.and secondary is hard disk. but hard-disk is not shown. if had to restart 3-4 times then i can see the os login page.
i had change the jumper in hard-disk to master /slave. but when i agin start pc .same problem occurs.
wat to do?

Try chaning the cable as suggested, a piece of advice...keep the primary master as your HDD and you CDROM as secondary master. Assuming you have a segate IDE..... in the former case the jumper would be at the IDE socket end and in case of ROM in the middle. Though its clearly mentioned on the hardward itself.
