It maybe some sound driver issue or something else, but defenitely not of proccy.
*Such issues are not due to proccys
*C2D is one of the best multithreading CPU around nd is never prone to this type of complaints.
*Might be issue of music player, try different player.
*Update mobo nd sound drivers from net

make sure they have updated sound driver, and prefer to play songs in WMP.

There may be many cause behind it......does ur sound card support ur speaker..and many more.

I think you should 1st see whether the DMA is enable or not... 2nd start up the Task Manager and see if there is any unusual process taking high resources... if yes trace that, and if a virus/spyware/any such clean it...

Post back,...

DMA is on in WinXP by default. update the sound driver & don't play wma in latest version of winamp. It has high CPU usage problem

Yes...@saurav_cheeta is right...........there may be some process who are eating the system resuorce.

Do one thing, and post the result here.In the icon tray (botton right)....exit the intel sound maneger (sound effect).I think it will solve ur problem.
Do let me know the result.....

Like I said above, first upgrade the sound card drivers. Install latest directX & check which songs they are? could be a decoder problem
