Make sure the battery is charged enough. Plug it to the mains before you power on the laptop the next time and boot into safe mode by pressing F8 before it gets into windows. Disable Hibernation, alarms from the power options and restart. If there is no option to disable hibernation in Safe mode, wait for some time to rule out the problem with the hardware.

Does your laptop charges properly and the uptime without power is adequate. ? If no thenyou need to get your battery checked and maybe changed.It happens with some xp security patches download also.

Disable hibernation and tell what happens then any unusuall massage or the battery dies
