Wanna Purchase 2.5' external HDD

I want to purchase 2.5 external HDD. My budget is 2-2.5k. Please suggest me some cheap n best HDD. should i go for HDD+Casing solution.

2.5" 40GB 5400 RPM Seagate/Hitachi/any other brand cost nearly the same - 2.3-2.5k and you can get the casing for another 300 Rs. Get the connections and formatting done from the vendor itself so that there are no issues later.

Yesterday i purchased 40GB 2.5 inch seagate hdd + Chinese casing for
Rs 2250/- from Nehru Place. The price of 80 gb with casing was Rs 3250.
One guy there purchased transcend casing for around 650/-.

is there any performance benefit if would go for any branded casing ?????

I donot think so... Life may vary performance i doubt it.. if you buy a SATA Hdd with casing then performance will vary but they are available in only 80gb and 120gb varaints...

go for any branded laptop harddisk..40 gb
buy casing which is 150-200 rs..local..no prob with it just a circuit..
my friend has done this ..
u shud get everything around 2500 depending upon the price of harddisk..
