Default Ports not showing up in Device Manager


Hi,
I have a modem connected to the COM3 port of my HP dv2114 laptop,
the problem is that it is disabled so i am not able to connect to the internet, when i open up the device manager it does not show the 'ports' tab, so how do i enable the COM3 port.
plz help me out, I am in real troyble.
Ill be very thankful to u.

If a laptop's internal modem has failed, the answer might be to get a PCMCIA modem card..or if already connected i guess u have to get new one...
