Core 2 Duo vs Pentium D! Which ones better for Video Editing?

Will the Intel Core 2 Duo E6300(2M L2 cache 1.86 GHz) outperform the Intel Pentium D 945(2M L2 cache 3.40 GHz). I have read the Digit reviews on them in which the Core 2 Duo is a clear winner over the D. But I m worried about the fact that I would be using it for Video Editing purposes and since all the softwares(Pinnacle Studio 9 & 10, Adobe Premiere Elements & Pro, Ulead, etc) that I work on recommend a processor with a frequency of 2.4 GHz. Now will the Dual Cored 1.8 GHz really help in this aplications(and the games) more than the Pentium D which is clocked a 3.4 GHz . The prices of both these are almost similar and I cannot go any higher with my limited budget. Please advice.....and please tell me HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE CACHE?

No mater what kinda job it is Core 2 Duo will always be better than Pentium D

C2D E6300 will smoke the fastest pentium D extreme edition out there across the board in *ALL* apps.

without doubt ,go for core 2 duo.
don,t look for processor speed alone. AMD processor works with much lower frequency then also it outperform pentium D
