IF AMD go for AMD Sempron 2800+ for rs. 4400 with ASUS mobo with PCIex slot ..

you can also buy a GPU if you extend rs. 500 means a 6200tc 256 mb for rs. 1900/-

I don't think that is enough, unless you go for celeron based. Or U can try some PIV 2.6 porcessor [506] 1MB L2 cache 2.66Ghz 533MHz FSB Rs3600 and motherboard ASROCK 865 GV Rs 2100. Even this one becomes 5700. Prices are indicative and may vary from place to place. Nehru place may have even less prices than this for these components

Dont buy prescott sh1t. AMD has good options in this range. Good intel processors start from core 2's

What a nice way to put it. I also think so Core 2 Duo is better. Though do not have any experience on AMD so far

Performance of AMD Sempron 2800+ is far better compared to any Intel Celeron proccy. It also beats the P4 ina few benchmarks specially in gaming.

I dont think u'll get P4 2.8GHz HT,but u'll get Pentium D 820 (2.8GHz).
P4 3GHz + Intel D101 = 8.2k approx
P4 3GHz + Intel D102 = 8.7k approx

Pentium D 820 + intel D101 = 9k
Pentium D 820 + Intel D102 = 9.5k
Pentium D 820 + Intel D945GNTL = 11.2k

If u can increase ur budget go 4 AMD Athlon + nVidia/ATI chipset mobo.

Hope this helps.

First tell me if u have already bought all this

2day's prices are

160 Gb Seagate 2700

DDR 400 512 MB Trancsend RAM 2150-2200
TwinMOs should be less

DVD Writer
Sony OEM 18X 1950
SOny Box pack 18X (DRU 830) 2150
Sony Box pack 16X (DRU820) 1850-1950 -->Go 4 dis
LG Box pack 18X 1750-1850

17" non flat monitor 4700

SO I think u can go for
AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 939 pin and Asus A8V-VM (good via chipset) (not A8N-VM) for 6000/-

No one even let u touch ONLY PROCESSOR(CORE 2 DUO) with in this budget...not even E6300.

Anyways buddy u have the option to go for refurbished ones or other option is AMD 3000+ & mobo(any)
