Question A Decent Gaming Rig

I had been regular reader of digit. But of the late, I could not read its reviews as I was abroad for about an year. Now back home, wants to upgrade my PC but I have neither recent digit magzines nor my knowledge is update. Can anyone suggest me, when [which month magzine contains it?] did digit last carried out reviews on Processors & Motherbaords [Dual Cores, Core 2 Duo, AMD X2 Dual Core & FX processors and Vista ready motherbaords for both intel as well as AMD. ATI chip based motherbaords and MSI motherboards etc]

Or can some one guide me selecting these components for a decent gaming PC.
MotherBoard: I don't need SLI or Crossfire motherboard but needs motherbaords with supports for DDR2 533 Mhz onwards, better layout [Intel original have bad layouts], futuristic mobo, PCI-Express and Vista ready. My inclination is towards MSI for Intel based as well as for AMD [ATI chip based].

Processor: What is X2, AM2 sockets etc? So many and so confusing. Whether Dual Core 2.8 or 3.0 or Core 2 Duo at 1.8 [isn't 1.8 less?].

Where do I get plextor dvd-rw drive in India?

Thanks in Advance

In this months Chip magazine, there is a configuration recommendation for Gaming Rigs starting from 45k to real high end... Check it out... But even in that, we can make some modifications to suit personal needs... Post your budget here and we can make some suggestions...

Question Re: A Decent Gaming Rig

Thanks. I just want motherboard and processor and a Plextor DVD-RW. Rest everything I have from Antec cabinets to VIP power supplies & XFX graphic cards. Difficult to mention budget but I don't want really high end motherboards like crossfire or SLI.

There is nothing useful in chip. Waist of 100 bugs on your advise. Just dictating 3 mobos & processors and almost AMD based will not serve my purpose. I want digit like review where at 8-10 mobos are reviewed in every catagory with detailed chart of their features & test score.

I could not keep myself abreast with latest releases otherwise, there was no need for me to request you guys here. I just wanted to know, whether any recent review of mobos & processors have appeared in digit? and if so which month?
