Why do you need SLI, I am pretty sure even if you wanna play games with insane resolutions you still can achieve with single high end machine, though for knowldge sake P5N32-SLI Delux supports SLI on a 965 chipset.

Re: SLI Query?
^^Thats an NF 590i SLI chipset board not p965. Its better to get the P5N32-E SLI which is based on 680i.

Re: SLI Query?
I'd again recommend a 680i based SLI rather than a 590i based, and i dont think SLI is all that useful for foney, as I've pointed out infinitely many times, it's a waste of money.

Re: SLI Query?
Yes it is & best is to buy a 680i based motherboard coz it will give better performance on "8800" series Graphics card.
EVGA nForce 680i is the best motherboard & great for overclocking,if u find that...otherwise striker rules!!!

************************************************** ********
Ok this is my problem:
Whenever I try to,
Right-click the desktop and left-click Properties.
Click the Settings tab.
Click Advanced.
Click GeForce 8600GT.
The "Enable SLI multi-GPU" option doesnt appear neither in XP or Vista.

No John there is only one card installed...
Now I get it..so one will have to install two cards to get that option to pop up...

Re: SLI Query?
And in crossfire you can use 2 different cards-of the same family- (like 2600 and 2900) but in SLI you have to use same cards (like 2 8800GTSs).

Yes you are right. You can install a single Nvidia card buit SLI is not possible.

Re: SLI Query?
Well actually these (SLI & X-Fire) are 2 different technologies of their respective brands.
But i have read a long time ago that nVidia is also working on SLI in which u can use 2 different graphic cards (nVidia only), i m not sure that this technology is available but they say SLI is having better performance & trusted widely and easy to the user.
Crossfire is bit complicated....for me.
But one have to have 2 SLI enabled cards to run em in SLI.
And yes u can use 2 different brands like one from XFX and another from EVGA but of same model like one 8800 GTX will be paired with another 8800 GTX!

Re: SLI Query?
hence coming back to my other question so if I may understand then as long as I dont attach the 2nd card and connect both the cards using the SLI bridge the option to enable SLI in display properties will not appear..

Re: SLI Query?
To set u straight do not go for same core ie. for eg. two 8800series cards from different vendors.I have seen some reviews which resulted in degraded performance due to such a setup. Its because although the cores are same the video cards are different.Like the capacitors, ram vendor etc.

Re: SLI Query?
^^ I was having the same confusion.
cheap cards like zebronics cards might be using GDDR2 (I am not sure) whereas xfx uses GDDR3. This can degrade the performance.

Yes........but see that you buy the same card with same specs and dont change the card maker. If u have Zebronics, go for Zebronics only.

XFX wont be using GDDR2 and displaying GDDR3!! We cant expect such a thing from a reputed company.
