Under Rs.12000/- NVidia 7600GT is the best buy. PCI-e is much much better than AGP. I use XFX7600GT and it is an amazing card...you may want to consider it.

If u've got the buck's than go for the NVIDIA 8800GTX. It supports Direct X 10 and is the fastest and the most future proof card available at present(however nothing is future proof in the world of tech). Anything other than this card will mean upgrading very soon to a new card since DX10 games are on their way as well as Win Vista.

8800 would be way out of his reach, Heck its way out of reach even for high enthusiastic gamers. Moreover DX10 games are too far to hit the stors yet, there are not even much in the development pipeline.

OP I'd suggest XFX Geforce 7600GT. Its a very good card you should be able to play all games at 1024x768 and quite a few even at 1280x1024 with almost all the eyecandy turned on, But I hope you gotta decent processor and RAM, they do play a part you know.
