Default Dual Channel Memory

I am planning to upgrade my existing 256 MB RAM (266 Mhz), the mobo is 3 years old and supports only upto 333 Mhz but does support dual channel.

What are the technical considerations for operating dual channel memory? Will two RAM sticks of same speed (may be different company) be sufficient?
This is what my mobo manual says about dual channel configuration

'For Dual-channel DDR (128-bit) high performance, at least 2 or
more DIMM modules must be installed. (It has to be the
combination of DIMMA and DIMMB.) With only one DIMM installed,
the memory performs only at 64-bit.
DRAM Access Time: 2.5V Unbuffered DDR 200/266/333 MHz Type required.
DRAM Type: 64MB/ 128MB/ 256MB/ 512MB/ 1GB DIMM Module (184 pin)'

Also does anyone know where can I get 266 MHz DDR RAM in Pune?
Most of the shops don’t have 266 MHz RAM now a days.

Now if it supports dual channel . . Check the number of ram slots that you are having . . If its 4 and if you have installed in slot 1 then install the new one in slot 3 . . If 2 then 4. . . Diff companys same frequency and speed will work .
