Angry Cd Drive Not Working

FOR THE LAST 4 MONTHS MY CD DRIVE IS WORKING OCCASSIONALLY. WHENEVER I TWEAK SOME OF THE BIOS SETTINGS AND OPEN MY CPU AND REINSTALL THE DRIVE IT WORKS BUT ONLY FOR 5-6 TIMES AND THEN STOPS. EVEN WHEN I INSTALLED A NEW DVD-WRITER IT WORKED FOR ONLY FEW TIMES. I THOUGHT IT WAS DAMAGED AND GAVE IT FOR REPAIRING BUT EVEN THEN IT IS NOT WORKING.DO I HAVE PROBLEM IN MY SOFTWARE OR OS AS I HAVE SIMULTANEOSLY 3 OS'S WORKING AND MAY BE CONFLICTING EACH OTHER.MY PC IS 933MHZ. AND I AM CORRECTLY WORKING IN WINDOWS XP WITH 256 RAM AND 815INTEL MOTHERBOARD.
