Question Is Intel or AMD best for playing Games?

Is Intel or AMD best for playing Games?

I have seen some serious problems in AMD

1. One friend can start NFS MW but the game closes automatically.
2. One friend can play NFS MW's first race without any problem but when he starts his next race his computer slows down and he can't play this race.

But most of the people sugggests AMD and not the Intel. I am confused.
Please help.

See the problems your friends are facing is either due to corrupt game files or some hardware problem.
Its a clear thing that AMD is better for gaming.

Game is ok. I can play on P4 & Intel D101 GGC board. As for h/w problem no friend in my city (Nagpur) is happy with AMD. My vendor also don't recommend AMD due to the faluty cases he saw with his customers. He told that failure rate is nearly 80% i.e. 4 out of 5 are faulty.

its just bogus..
AMD never produce such bad processors mine 7 pcs and 7 amd no faults..

maybe your dealers sells grey products ..

and amd nopes .. best for gaming..
might be a ram problem..

and one more thing that every pc can run well its just who assembles it and uses genuine softwares with correct setup, drivers and maintenence..

For playing games the best would be a graphics card.

My dealer dont like AMD
I wasent able to copy a scratchless original DVD,
i asked him he said it is fault of your chipset and AMD processor
I dont think it is true ,
well about faults, I got my RAM,TV tunner,SMPS,MODEM replaced\repaired from him.components not faulty were Proccessor,MOBO,DVD RW.
in a single configuration i took from him.
So i think it is just that faults occure and some blame AMD for it
rather way I think AMD is good for overclocking and budget PCs until cheaper core 2 DUO come into market.

yeha my processor goes hardly adove 51 degrees these days(its bit cold)
(well overclocking from 1.8 to 2.0 and playing newer games temp. just goes above 51)
but some older Intel models I have seen (fy friends one) heates more than mine without overclocking!

nothing is perfect in the world! it might be a manufacturing defect? i thing i got the solution insert linux cd and do memory test u will get the better idea.
or may be there could be problem with the game? r u using licenced game or the pirated 1?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
and yeah amd is the best and cheap too but it is not popular because not every body is aware about it.. may be because amd keep itself away from advertisement (specially on tv) and may be that's why amd is cheap?

AMD or Intel matter later .. what matter most in gaming is the GPU , not the CPU .. most AMD's are sold with onboard Via UniChrome chipsets (with very bad 3D acceleration) ... while Intel's are equipped with atleast 915's these days .. those chips are the one's that causes troubles with gaming ..

Even a P4 2.0 GHz will play games when equipped with a 7800GS .. albeit a Athlon64 3000+ will be better , but still the games will be playable enough ..

I've heard lots of people complain about AMD with some very stupid reasons .. dealers who do this are infact less aware of the market ... most people rely on Intel , so such dealers can bag in a lot of cash by giving false hope's .. just how the market goes ...

Actually if u keep rest of the components same then an AMD will outperform a Pentium

How does C2D stand in front of X2's on overclockability, heating and all such features?

"AMD good for gaming" is a thing of past. Intel's new Core Duo series with enhanced micro architecture outperforms AMD in terms of efficiency. It will be interesting war during next year when AMD will release its next generation AM2+ processor.

Intels current range of processors are turning out to be much more powerful than the current range of AMD processors....

However, on a side note, considering cost implications of Processor+Motherboard+Graphics card, I think unless you are really in the higher end of budgets, AMD offers better bang for the buck... (IMHO)

More than clock speed and FSB, micro architecture really makes a huge difference to the performance. C2D has achieved exactly that. We have to wait and see AMD's reply to C2D next year when they release next generation AM2+ Processors.

Before C2D, AMD was rocking and I would have supported AMD as well as all others are doing, but after the BEAST Core 2 Duo was launched, Intel has come back with a sexy bang and beats AMD on all hands even on overclocking front on which AMD used to boast. Google it and you would know what I mean. As far as your problem is concerned, cant figure it out unless we have more details like the config. Is it a generic problem or specific.

I have OC C2D 6300 to 3.3 and its 46-47 on normal condition and 62-67 on 100% load (actual 100% load), that too on stock cooling, which is absolutely acceptable, I can go further to 3.6,3.7 as well (Which answers C2D's OC ability.....it just needs a good OC board) but for that I need extra cooling, coz its definately gonna cross 70-75 but just look at the OC from 1.8 to 3.3. Thats 80% OC on stock cooling. Do you still need any proof which one is better????

I still believe amd provides best bang of buck . . For 6300 to perform decently you need to shell out some more on motherboard is it ? Most of them dont have much . They look mostly at 10 to 12k max for proc and motherboard . I guess amd is the way to go here . I am not saying not to go for 6300 . But its too much to afford now for many . Better buy one that suits best for budjet . Than look at specs.things change fast in the world of computers
__________
Yes. . I forgot put a graphics card to enjoy games . Its the graphics card that matters than proc. Sure you get better frame rates with good proc. But frame rates that makes you playable around 30 to 40 max is enough for a decent user. I dont mean hard core gamer. And look for the need that you buy comp for . Excel and office works plus some casual games infact even 3d apps. An x2 with more ram and card is the best solution. (Cant edit ,on mob)

Not necessarily, you need a good board if you wanna overclock it and use every ounce of perfromance from 6300, other wise any 945 will not do that bad and Intel 945 are pretty affordable for a casual user as well.
