DVD Writer needed!!

Hi every1...

i have a P4 1.7GHZ, Intel i845GL motherboard, 256MB RAM (DDR@ 133MHz) and 40GB+ 20GB HDD's, 15" Compaq monitor etc...
Also, i got Samsung CD Writer and a Samsung DVD ROM.

Now, as i am running out of space on my HDD (and my SAMSUNG CD Writer refuses to write CDs w/oo any probs), i would like to get a DVD Writer..
(will upgrade my whole PC later on)

Plz suggest me a good DVD Writer (should also run on my PC and write DVD's, CDs w/o any probs.. and it shud support all thr DVD, CD formats out there..)

I have experienced tray problems with samsung drives (2 up till nw). and also heard about similar problems with LG. Some frnds told me that LiteOn drives take way too long to write DVDs. so i think only decent company left is Sony..

So plz suggest me a good model fr a decent enuf price (plz also mention price of the product as well...

i am using Sony dru-810a .. have had no issues at all with this very fine drive.. and a couple of my friends even commented on its speed at copying stuff off it..
all this is possible cause of my asus a8n-e and 512mb ram and sata hdd .. you might wanna upgrade you ram alongwith the writer

The best ones i India are Lite-ONs and BenQs...

It's written on numerous posts on this forum that Sony re-badges Lite-On and BenQ drives. Also i suppose Lite-On has purchased BenQ.

I am getting a BenQ DVD Writer for myself (BenQ 1650 i suppose).

i am using HP dvd 735 at it runs fine w/o any problems.......... costed me around 2.3k

Get a Sony DRU-820A. I'm using it from a year and haven't experienced any problems.

different opinions..
many people say sony r good and many say Benq r best and some r using HP .......
please also mention prices people..
and drive shud be able to support all the DVD, CD formats out there.

Sony or Liteon, I dont think benq falls under the same league. I am using
Sony DVD RW DW-Q28A for an year now without a glitch.

hey people what about Asus 1608 dvd writer...heard its better than sony ... also sony dru 830 is there now ... hows it better than dru 820 ??

hey its a known truth that ... sony sellls either liteon or benq dvd writers under their face plate .. go check .. www.cdfreaks.com ..

so stop praising sony drives .. in any case sony drives are more costlier than either lite on or benq ..

also benq odd business is bought by lite on .. so if u want to get true benq drive .. then try to get .. either dw 1640 or 1650 or 1655
these are the best dvd drives that benq produced.. i am using 1640 .. one of the best ever ..

if u want to go for lite on then try shm 165p6s .. a very good drive ..

with liteon i dont think the service support in india is good

i would rather nt go in for a Samsung or LG drive....

Nw the rest depends on which drive the vendor might have....

If some1 thinks any of these drives has serious flaws which they encountered, then plz tell me so ppl..
